ATHEIST Schedules U.S., European Dates

January 30, 2007

Vocalist Kelly Shaefer of the reactivated seminal technical metal pioneers ATHEIST has issued the following update:

"We have confirmed a number of new shows. First and foremost, the Los Angeles Murderfest on March 24th in Hollywood [California] at the Knitting Factory. Also play[ing] that night with us are our old friends in OBITUARY. It's gonna probably be the only West Coast shows and only 900 tix are available, so check into it and dont wait 'till the last minute. We also have confirmed Hellfest in France in June as well as Graspop [Metal Meeting] in Belgium all in the same weekend. We also have confirmed two Florida shows — one in Tampa at the Brass Mug and in Miami. I don't have all the info, but I will by tomorrow, and it will be posted on the www.officialatheist.com website.

"Steve [Flynn, ATHEIST drummer] and the GNOSTIC [Flynn's new band] boys have been working hard on songs that will appear on their upcoming debut. We hope to have that recorded by this spring, early summer, and out before the end of the year.

"If you get a moment, please check out my artwork at www.kellyshaefer.com."

ATHEIST guitarist Rand Burkey was forced to bow out of the band's festival performances last year due to legal troubles. Filling in for Burkey on the reunion shows was veteran guitarist Chris Baker. Baker has joined core ATHEIST members Kelly Shaefer (vocals),Tony Choy (bass),and Steve Flynn (drums) as well as guitarist Sonny Carson (who is playing Shaefer's guitar role due to Shaefer's long-running battles with tendonitis and carpal tunnel). Baker and Carson are currently playing with Steve Flynn's new band GNOSTIC.
